National Proficiency I Certificate (Cosmetology)
The National Proficiency I Programme is bridging, allowing progression for people with minimal or no educational background into the National Proficiency II Programme. The National Proficiency I Programme focuses on the basic skills, knowledge and understanding within the vocational area. The Programme will also help the learner to prepare and facilitate his/her progression into the general education space through the introduction to Generic Skills Units.

Overview - Competency Based-Training (CBT) Programme
The Competency Based Training (CBT) programme as developed and approved by the Commission for TVET is industry and demand-driven, based on consultation with all TVET major stakeholders to provide learners with practical skills and experience of the world of work, through the workplace experience learning units, Generic Skills, as well as skills, knowledge and understanding gained through more formal practical training and learning in the institution and workplace. The programme as mounted at a given qualification level consists of the following courses; students will attend various combinations of the following training courses where they will obtain a recognized certificate upon completion of the course.

Our graduates work and intern in a range of jobs in a broad range of fields — beauty consultants, product representatives, or instructors in cosmetology schools. They can pursue roles as hairstylists, makeup artists, estheticians, and nail technicians in salons and spas.

Program Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate an understanding and application of these areas: Introduction to cosmetology, Health, Safety and Environment, Communication in Salon Environment, Client Care and Consultation, Tools and Equipment, Products and Materials, Hair Care, Plaiting and Braiding, Nail care, Basics of Barbering
Be able to use a variety of working tools to deliver exceptional work.
The Programme will also help the learner to prepare and facilitate his/her progression into the general education space through the introduction to Generic Skills Units
Who qualifies to study National Proficiency I programme (admission requirement)
- The entry level requires no formal or any related certificate or experience.
- Any applicant willing and ready to gain skills and competencies in cosmetology.
